Death is Booooring

I came to the realization that both Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes are both (as of this writing) considered dead in their respective world. Sherlock has been "dead" for at least a year. So what would a highly intelligent, easily bored detective do with all that "alone" time? And what if someone knew of this juicy little bit of information and decided to throw a couple suggestions their way?
